Do you think that being mindful in business is incompatible with being profitable? Watch this video to see how a business woman in Amherst MA is running her retail store in a way that is good for her clients, suppliers, and the environment while being sustainable herself.

However to be mindful and sustainable requires a new mindset that allows for new ways of thinking to come up with solutions that enhance the well being of all stakeholders and not only the shareholders.

In the video Mary Moore Cathcart, the owner of the Clawfoot Tub in Amherst, MA discusses her philosophy of being authentic in business. Mary Moore speaks to how fairtrade and organic goods can often be more reasonable than regular because these products don't involve too many middle people. She reminds us this is not the new model but is an ancient model where there were not too many people between the producer and the consumer.

She also represents the mindful approach to business in that she makes her customers aware of their own shopping habits and if they have a real need for the product. In the traditional sense one may think that this is not good for your business but when you approach this with a bigger perspective of including the long term effects on the environment and your customers which will ultimately also affect you and not to mention the long term relationship you are building with you clients, this approach is much more profitable in the long run.

Watch the video for an intimate sharing of how MaryMoore started the business, using social media as a small business, and building community beyond selling.

Her mantra at work is simple and a good reminder to us all, "I love what I do."
